Taylor Swift: ‘Self-hatred sent me into a year of hiding’

Taylor Swift has discussed the self-hatred and unbearable trolling that forced her to go into hiding for a year. The singer-songwriter is the subject of the new Netflix documentary, Miss Americana, which follows her over the course of several years of her career, documenting her personal and professional successes and hardships. Throughout the movie, Taylor speaks about her efforts to shed her “nice girl” image from her early years as a country music artist, and choosing to finally state her political views publicly. “Throughout my whole career, label executives would say, ‘A nice girl doesn’t force her opinions on people,’” the 30-year-old said in footage from the film. “‘A nice girl smiles and waves and says thank you.’” She added: “I became the person everyone wanted me to be.” After a string of high-profile spats with celebrities including Katy Perry, Kim Kardashian, and Kanye West, however, the ME! hitmaker went into hiding, admitting, “No one physically saw me for a year.” While Taylor admitted she did “what I thought they wanted,” she revealed taking time out forced her to “deconstruct an entire belief system” as she figured out who she really was, realising she wanted to be independent and vocal. Morrissey is set to play two shows in the UK this March

The former Smiths frontman has announced concerts at Leeds First Direct Arena on March 6, and The SSE Arena, Wembley in London on March 14, in support of his upcoming 13th solo record, ‘I Am Not a Dog On a Chain’. The European run also sees the musician perform at the Palladium Cologne on March 9, and the Salle Pleyel in Paris on March 11. The new tour dates come after the Mancunian released new single ‘Bobby, Don’t You Think They Know’ from his upcoming follow-up to 2019’s ‘California Son’. Morrissey recruited Grammy-winning Motown star Thelma Houston for the epic duet, who said: “One of the biggest joys for me in this business is getting the opportunity to collaborate with other top artists. “I love the challenge to see if what I do can work with what they’re doing. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn’t. “I think the blend of what Morrissey is singing and what I’m singing really works on ‘Bobby’. “And it was a lot of fun working with M in the studio too!” The ‘Mute Witness’ singer’s long-time producer, Joe Chicarelli, teased that the upcoming album, which is released via BMG on March 20, is “the […]

Jonas Brothers praised by the Kardashians after recreating siblings’ most famous fight

The Jonas Brothers left fans in stitches on Monday after they recreated one of the most famous fights from Keeping Up with the Kardashians. In a video shared on Joe Jonas’s Instagram page, he and his brothers Nick and Kevin acted out the scene, with the dialogue between Kim and Khloe Kardashian dubbed over the top. The clip began with Joe, as Kim, storming into a room, and hitting sister Khloe, played by Nick, with her designer bag. “Don’t be f**king rude!” Joe lip-synced to Kim’s outburst. “I swear to God, don’t be f**king rude! Stop, don’t do that. I’ll f**king hurt you.” As Nick’s Khloe sat in her seat being beaten by Kim’s bag, the singer mouthed: “Are you kidding me? Stop, what are you doing? Stop!” Third bandmember Kevin then made his brief appearance in the hilarious clip, walking past, presumably as Kourtney, and stating: “Oh my God!” The clip, which has been viewed more than two million times, quickly attracted comments from fans, who praised the brothers for their take on the argument – as well as replies from the Kardashians themselves. “Hahaha nailed it!!!!!!!” Khloe wrote, while Kim reposted the video on her Twitter page and […]

Chris Martin ‘doesn’t really understand’ Coldplay’s new songs

The 42-year-old singer and his bandmates have decided not to tour their latest album, ‘Everyday Life’, due to environmental concerns, and he’s also doing very little to promote the record as he doesn’t really know what to say. Buy tickets below. He said: “We’re not touring and we’re not really talking and not doing anything normal. “This album feels like we have to just release it into the world and let it fend for itself. “Because a lot of these songs came from a place I don’t really understand, and other reasons too, it’s just not tourable yet. “We’re trying to wait to tour until we can figure out the environmental side of things.” The ‘Orphans’ hitmaker has deliberately avoided reading any of the reactions to either the record or the group’s decision not to tour. He told the latest issue of Q magazine: “I stayed in a real cocoon cos I feel super-focused and super on a mission of some sort. “This time I’m not even aware of any reaction or any result … nothing, cos I feel a very strong calling to be doing a certain thing. “It’s always been there but maybe because the way the world […]

Chester Bennington’s widow sets ‘record straight’ about New Year’s wedding

Chester Bennington’s widow has attacked tabloid reporters for failing to “fact check” the date of her recent wedding, after she was accused of remarrying on her anniversary with the tragic rocker. Talinda Bennington hit headlines over the weekend (04-05Jan20) after it was claimed she had tied the knot with firefighter Michael Fredman on 1 January (20) – the same day she had become Mrs. Bennington back in 2005. However, she took to Instagram on Monday to clear up the reports after facing criticism from some of the Linkin Park frontman’s fans online. Alongside a photo of the wedding programme, she wrote, “With joy and love I want to set something straight. “ON JANUARY 4th, I wed a wonderful man, great friend, and son this weekend… The day we chose was a day of meaning, in many different ways.” “My anniversary with my love, Chester, JAN 1 Was NOT THE DAYE (sic),” she continued. “Jan 1st will always be the day I married Chester. I would never paint over that beautiful day with anything else.” Talinda then turned on the media for spreading lies with the inaccurate reports: “To all of the tabloids who printed a false story, inciting anger to […]
