Rihanna hints at possible title for new reggae album

Rihanna has had her Navy itching with anticipation since teasing a new album back in winter. Now, in a new interview with T Magazine, she’s confirmed that she’s still hard at work on the effort — and that fans may be impacting the final product. The Barbados Ambassador reiterated that the project is indeed a reggae record, though she refrained from giving any firm timeline for its completion. She added that she’s leaning towards calling the LP — which will mark her ninth full-length — R9, a name that her Navy has been drilling into her head. “So far it’s just been R9, thanks to the Navy,” she said. “I’m about to call it that probably, ’cause they have haunted me with this ‘R9, R9, when is R9 coming out?’ How will I accept another name after that’s been burned into my skull?” (Read: 10 Most Anticipated Pop Albums of 2019) Elsewhere, RiRi once again touched on her deteriorated relationship with Drake. Last summer, she said the pop stars “don’t have a friendship now, but we’re not enemies either,” so it shouldn’t be surprising that she doesn’t see another “Work”-level collaboration in the near future. “Not anytime soon, I don’t see it happening,” […]

R Kelly being investigated by FBI: Report

R. Kelly R Kelly’s legal woes have reportedly reached a federal level. In response to the rampant allegations of the singer’s sexual misconduct, a state police investigation has been launched in Georgia, and another could soon follow in Illinois. Now, TMZ is reporting that the FBI is also looking into Kelly — specifically as to whether he transported a minor across state lines for the purpose of sex. Azriel Clary, one of Kelly’s alleged victims featured in the Lifetime series Surviving R Kelly, was reportedly flown from Palm Springs to Phoenix to Orlando in May 2015. At the time, she was only 17 years old. Clary’s family says the flights were arranged by Kelly’s personal assistant. The family has not heard from Clary since 2016 and believe she may be Kelly’s “sex slave.” If the allegations are true, Kelly would be in violation of the Mann Act — the federal law that makes it illegal to transport a minor across state lines for purposes of sex, debauchery or prostitution. Punishment for such a crime is up to 10 years in a federal prison. R. Kelly’s attorney, Steve Greenberg, denied to TMZ that Kelly violated the law and said he was unaware of any investigation. […]

Erykah Badu defends R. Kelly: “Everyone who’s been involved has been hurt”

Many musicians have publicly distanced themselves from R Kelly amidst allegations of sexual abuse. Even French Montana, who initially defended the embattled R&B singer, later issued a statement to express his support for Kelly’s alleged victims. There is, however, at least one musician still willing to defend Kelly. While performing in Chicago on Saturday night, Erykah Badu paused her concert to “say a prayer right now for [Kelly].” Badu initially acknowledged Kelly’s allegations — “I hope he sees the light of day if he’s done all those things we’ve seen on TV.” However, after some audience members began shouting, “Fuck him!”, Badu seemed to jump to Kelly’s defense. “That’s not love. What if one of the people who was assaulted by R Kelly grows up to become an offender?” Badu asked. “We gonna crucify them too? How do we do this? Just something to think about.” Badu acknowledged that her comments would be met with criticism. “They’re about to R Kelly me to death on the Internet,” she quipped, before adding, “I just want peace and love for everybody, healing for everybody. Healing for those who’ve been hurt, because everyone who’s been involved has been hurt.” TMZ obtained video of Badu’s remarks, which you can watch […]
