Metallica, Elton John, Kacey Musgraves Donate to Australian Bushfire Relief

Musicians around the world have pledged to donate funds to support bushfire relief efforts in Australia, including Metallica, Elton John, Kacey Musgraves, and more. Metallica and their foundation All Within My Hands have focused on fighting the fires, pledging $750,000 to the NSW Rural Fire Service and to the Country Fire Authority in Victoria. At a recent concert in Sydney, John pledged to donate “$1 million to support the bushfire relief fund.”

Courtney Barnett is throwing two benefit shows in Melbourne, Australia, with Camp Cope and Alice Skye, with all proceeds going to “bushfire disaster appeal, vic/nsw fire services and wildlife rescue.”

Sydney producer Flume has also pledged $100,000 to WIRES, posting to Instagram “It’s so sad. It’s breaking my heart.”

Pink has also pledged to donate $500,000 to local firefighters, tweeting links to various fire services. A “disheartened” Kacey Musgraves asked her Twitter followers how she could help, ultimately finding an undisclosed organization to donate to.

The original members of the Wiggles, a popular Australian children’s music group, are reuniting for the first time since 2016 to play two benefit shows at Sydney, Australia’s Castle Hill RSL on January 17-18. All proceeds—including merch sales—benefit the Australian Red Cross and WIRES.
