Coldplay perform sunrise and sunset live sets in Amman, Jordan: Watch

As a live debut of their newly released double LP Everyday Life, Coldplay have shared two performances from Amman, Jordan– one taking place at sunrise, and another at sunset. Staged atop the capital’s aged citadel, the sets reflected the two-halves of the new record. The first sunrise performance kicked off at 4am GMT, with the city cloaked in grey clouds as the band whisked through each new track. For their performance of “Arabesque”, they were joined by Stromae, Femi Kuti, and a pack of sparkling horns. The following sunset performance opened with “Guns”, then moved into the single “Orphans” accompanied by a jumping choir. The set wrapped with the album’s title track, sizzling out against a brightly glowing horizon. The two performances serve as one of the few chances to see these songs in live form. You won’t catch the guys touring anytime soon as they’ve sworn it off until they find a more environmentally friendly approach. However, fans in London can catch their upcoming one-off show on November 25th at London’s Natural History Museum. All proceeds will go to the environmental law charity ClientEarth. Rivers Cuomo and Andrew Yang sing “Say It Ain’t So” at campaign rally: Watch

On Friday, Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo played an Andrew Yang political rally in Des Moines, Iowa. For the event, dubbed Yangapalooza!, Cuomo was joined by Weezer bassist Scott Shriner. Together with a drummer, they performed a set divided between old Weezer favorites and covers from 2019’s The Teal Album (via Pitchfork). Cellphone footage captured snippets of “No Scrubs”, “Africa”, “Take on Me”, as well as Weezer classics like “Buddy Holly”, “Island in the Sun”, “Undone – The Sweater Song” and “Beverly Hills”. For “Say It Ain’t So”, Weezer was joined by Andrew Yang himself. The presidential hopeful, a self-identified “ex-goth,” danced in place and sang along with the band. Check out some clips below. At one point, Rivers Cuomo said, “Yang gang in the house,” but otherwise offered no explicit endorsement (the implicit endorsement, of course, is just showing up). Cuomo previously donated money to the Yang campaign. Yang is hardly the first candidate to pick up a celebrity endorsement. By our subjective count, the leader in that category is Bernie Sanders. Just last week Jack White came out in support of Sanders, joining Cardi B and Killer Mike in endorsing the Vermont Senator. The same day that Cuomo played Yangaplooza!, he shared […]

Green Day celebrate 25th anniversary of Dookie with full album performance in Madrid: Watch

The 25th anniversary of Dookie is coming to a close, but Green Day are far from done celebrating the seminal album. On Wednesday, October 30th, the band performed the 1994 record in full during a concert in Madrid, Spain. Frontman Billie Joe Armstrong previously teased the surprise set on Instagram, and last night the three-piece delivered in epic fashion. The punk rockers wasted no time onstage at La Riviera, immediately kicking off their two-set (!) gig with Dookie. Their performance featured every single track off their third LP, including some that hadn’t been played live in over five years, such as “Chump”, “In the End”, and “Emenius Sleepus”. Green Day also offered up “All By Myself”, the hidden acoustic track which, as revealed recently, also happens to be Billie Eilish’s favorite off the record. (Read: The 13 Scariest Pop Songs) Following the Dookie showcase, Green Day proceeded with a second set of catalog favorites, like “Minority” and “Brain Stew”. The trio closed the evening with a two-track encore. Check out some fan-footage below, followed by the setlist. It’s unclear whether any more Dookie-focused concerts are in the cards for Green Day — they once hinted at a full-fledged tour — but Armstrong […]

Adam Sandler and his daughters cover Taylor Swift’s “Lover”: Watch

Is there anything sweeter than a parent connecting with their children over modern music? It’s one thing when an adult teaches a kid about, say, Tom Petty, but when the shared experience goes the other way, it’s even more touching. Which makes watching Adam Sandler covering Taylor Swift’s “Lover” with his two daughters just about the purest thing you’ll see today. Turns out the Sandler clan are big Swifties. After the premiere of Sandler’s latest film, Uncut Gems, at the New York Film Festival on Thursday, the comedian took his daughters — 10-year-old Sunny and 13-year-old Sadie — to watch Swift perform on Saturday Night Live. The pop star sang “Lover”, a Sandler family favorite, and watching her perform it live must have inspired the young girls. The very next night, they were singing it alongside their famous father at an A-list fundraising event in Malibu (via The Hollywood Reporter). The Rock4EB! fundraiser, which raised money to fight a little known disease called epidermolysis bullosa, was headlined by Sandler and Pearl Jam singer Eddie Vedder. Near the end of his closing set, Sandler welcomed out his daughters to sing with him. “They’ve been so excited and nervous, but they’re gonna sing a song,” […]

Josh Homme joins The Raconteurs for “Blue Veins”: Watch

Fans who attended The Raconteurs’ concert in Los Angeles on Friday night bore witness to the first on-stage collaboration between rock gods Jack White and Josh Homme. The Queens of the Stone Age frontman joined White’s Raconteurs for special encore performance of “Blue Veins”. Watch fan-captured footage below. Last week, White appeared as a guest on Homme’s Alligator Hour radio show. The two larger-than-life rock figures engaged in a free-wheeling conversation that touched on a variety of different topics, including childhood memories, hipsters vs. hillbillies, mob mentality, click-bait journalism, the lack of an “anti-scene”, and more. You can replay the episode here. As we now know, the episode also set the stage for Homme’s surprise appearance with The Raconteurs. Hopefully a more proper, recorded collaboration is also in the cards. In the meantime, you can catch The Raconteurs on the road supporting their first new album in 11 years, Help Us Stranger. get tickets to the band’s upcoming dates here. Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr reunite to perform Beatles classics in Los Angeles: Watch

Paul McCartney wrapped up his massive “Freshen Up Tour” on Saturday with a dose of Beatlemania. During his closing gig at Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium, Macca reunited with Ringo Starr for a pair of classic Beatles songs. “We’ve got a surprise for us, a surprise for you, a surprise for everyone. Ladies and gentlemen, the one and only, Ringo Starr,” McCartney introduced the famed drummer. The two rock icons then fired off 1967’s “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise)” and The White Album cut “Helter Skelter” to the delight of the rapturous crowd. (Read: A Hard Day’s Night: The Strangest Reported Reactions to Beatlemania) The treats didn’t stop there, however. Sir Paul McCartney brought out a second special guest in Joe Walsh. The Eagles member, who also happens to be Starr’s brother-in-law, popped up on stage to knock out guitar during the Abbey Road number “The End”. “The best part is we didn’t have a clue what we were doing,” McCartney later jokingly told the audience of the evening’s star-studded collaborations. Kid Cudi, Wiz Khalifa make dedications to Nipsey Hussle, Mac Miller at Coachella: Watch

Coachella brought all the biggest names in music to the California dessert this weekend, but many artists took time to pay tribute to those who weren’t able to be there. At his early evening set on Friday, Jaden Smith was the first to shout out Nipsey Hussle, who was shot and killed on March 31st. Through his autotuned mic, he said, “We just lost a legendary person, an amazing man, a legendary MC, so I want to use this time here up on stage on Coachella to just say R.I.P Nipsey Hussle. We love you,” before taking a brief moment of silence. Anderson .Paak next gave nods to both Mac Miller, who passed in September, and Nipsey. As .Paak and his Free Nationals closed their set with the Miller collaboration “Dang” off the latter’s The Devine Feminine, he told the crowd to put “One hand in the air for my brother, I miss him so much, Mac Miller.” He added, “One hand in the air for my brother, Nipsey Hussle!” On Saturday, Wiz Khalifa promised that “the Marathon always gonna continue, my brother,” referencing Nipsey’s 2010 mixtape and brand. He told the crowd to make some noise for the late MC […]
