Eddie Murphy confirms he’s making Beverly Hills Cop 4

Who knew 2019 would be the year of Eddie Murphy? The comedian has been blazing the comeback trail, with plans to host SNL, embark on a comedy tour, and even star in Coming to America 2. Now, the actor has shared he’ll also be making the long gestating Beverly Hills Cop 4. Making the Cop’s fourth installment has been on-and-off the table for some time. In 2013, CBS whipped up a pilot for a sequel series centered around the son of Murphy’s cop character, Axel Foley. That never made it to air, and Paramount decided to move ahead with a proper cinematic follow-up. Initially set to release in 2016, production hit multiple delays and eventually fell apart after Murphy expressed frustrations with the script. Now however, it seems like it’s officially back on. In a new interview with Collider, Murphy discussed his comeback plans, including bringing back Foley. The comedian stated, “Yeah that’s what we’re doing after Coming to America 2. Eddie Murphy returns to host SNL for first time in over 30 years

Eddie Murphy’s comedy comeback is coming full circle. The veteran comedian will return to his old stomping grounds at Studio 8H in Rockefeller Center to host Saturday Night Live’s Christmas episode on December 21st. Murphy was a regular cast member on SNL from 1980 to 1984. He previously hosted SNL’s Christmas episode in 1982 after the original host, Nick Nolte, fell ill, making Murphy the only cast member to host while still a series regular. In 2015, Murphy made a surprise cameo as part of SNL’s 40th anniversary special. SN’s 45th season will kick off on September 28th with an episode hosted by Woody Harrelson and featuring Billie Eilish as the musical guest. The following week (October 5th) will feature Fleabag creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Taylor Swift, followed on October 12th by Stranger Things star David Harbour and pop singer Camila Cabello.
