The Front Bottoms share new single “Camouflage”: Stream

The Front Bottoms have released a new single called “Camouflage”. It’s the group’s first new music since releasing the 2018 EP Ann.  “Camouflage” is a crisply produced track that opens with radio feedback and isolated vocals before turning into a blown-out pop punk track about mental breakdowns, budding crushes, and trying to blend in. In its corresponding music video, a black-and-white clip directed by Mark Jaworski, The Front Bottoms trek the country in a van and start to lose track of where they are. In a press statement, the band explained the inspiration for the single, “We spent a lot of the last year reflecting. There was a lot to think about, a lot to stress about, and a lot to be happy about. We feel lucky about it all, but it’s getting hard to separate real life and the music, or tell which parts even belong to us and which parts belong to you. That’s the best though. The Voidz return with new single “Did My Best” produced by Mac DeMarco: Stream

Even with a new album from The Strokes on the horizon, the band’s individual members continue to roll out music of their own. The other day we saw Fabrizio Moretti drop his debut LP under his Machinegum moniker; now, Julian Casablancas and The Voidz are back with a new single, “Did My Best”. The track is a fuzzy offering that comes paired with a grainy, lo-fi music video/short film. Directed by Promiseland, it finds the band members apparently lost in relationships with mannequins… or sex dolls, it’s kind of hard to tell. The nearly 11-minute clip also incorporates a new version of “The Eternal Tao”, The Voidz’ previous 2019 release. Dubbed “The Eternal Tao 2.0”, there’s an extra verse tacked on at the end. What’s more, the visuals feature cameos from Mac DeMarco and Kirin J Callinan, who co-produced both “Did My Best” and “The Eternal Tao”. Watch it below. Jamila Woods channels her inner Harry Potter in new “Baldwin” video: Watch

Chicago R&B artist Jamila Woods is back with a new music video for “Baldwin”. The song comes from her recent album, LEGACY! LEGACY!, which was released last month. The fantastical clip sees her create the wizarding world of Harry Potter for the black youth community in Chicago. “To outsiders, the school appears to be abandoned — one of the 50 public schools closed under Mayor Rahm Emmanuel’s watch in 2013,” explained Woods in a press release. “However, for Black people in the neighborhood this space is a gem, an oasis of Black learning and radical education for young people. We shot part of the film documentary-style, to include young people’s perspectives on what they would want their dream school to be like.” Hence why the music video for “Baldwin” turns into a Hogwarts haven. In the video, directed by Vincent Martell, kids run their shopping carts into the side of a Chicago school and find themselves on the other side. There, they’re surrounded by magnificent feasts, hair care classes, magic education courses, and more. Charli XCX announces star-studded new album, plus massive tour

Charli XCX has announced her first album in five years. The almost self-titled Charli arrives September 13th through Atlantic Records and will be supported with an expansive tour. The futuristic pop star’s third full-length to date brings together a who’s who of prominent guests. Among them: Lizzo, Troye Sivan, HAIM, Big Freedia, Christine and the Queens, and Sky Ferreira. There are also collaborations with rapper CupcakKe, rising electro-pop artist Clairo, German pop singer Kim Petras, and Brooklyn producer Yaeji. (Read: The Most Anticipated Pop Albums of 2019) Of the 15 tracks on the Sucker follow-up, we’ve already heard “1999” featuring Sivan — one of our favorites of 2018 — and the Christine and Queens-assisted “Gone”. Additionally, the new album includes the previously released joint track with Lizzo, “Blame It on Your Love”. The single’s video, directed by Bradley & Pablo, is also expected to arrive today. According to a statement, Charli XCX worked with AR makeup artist Ines Alpha on the record’s artwork. David Gilmour releases Live at Pompeii concert film for free on YouTube

In July 2016, David Gilmour returned to Pompeii for a special two-night concert event. His appearance came 45 years after Pink Floyd staged a similar production, the footage for which was heavily featured in the band’s iconic Live in Pompeii concert film. In 2017, Gilmour’s full performance was released as a concert film and companion live album. Gilmour’s Live at Pompeii was originally screened in movie theaters for one night only, and has subsequently been available on DVD and Blu-ray. Now, though, Gilmour is streaming the entire performance for free on YouTube. Watch it below.
